Skin-like self-healing coating in the works

A group of Chinese researchers have developed a new kind of coating for use in both architecture and biomedical fields. How can this coating benefit these vastly different areas of science?

Lead researcher Ming Yang explains how the new coating is designed to self-heal much like human skin. Yang comments that it is “artificial materials in nature’s way”. There have been previous attempts in the past to develop this type of “smart coating”, but have not been economically or environmentally friendly. Yang’s team hopes to solve that issue.
